Michael Hoffmann studied Philosophy, Politics, and Religion in Munich, Germany, and did his Ph.D. thesis on Plato's late philosophy. The thesis was published in 1996. From 1992-1993 he joined a research project on cultural aspects of perceiving nature at the University of Essen. Since 1994 he is lecturer at an interdisciplinary oriented institute of mathemtics education at the University of Bielefeld, Germany. His research interests are in philosophy of science, in the philosophy of Charles S. Peirce, and in semiotic and epistemological foundation of learning processes.
