João Queiroz (Ph.D Communication and Semiotics) has worked on the theoretical-formal conditions for the modeling of semiosis (meaning processes) in biological/artificial systems. Much of his time is devoted to research C.S.Peirce's philosophy and logic of sign to propose a pragmatic inspired methodology to investigate the requisites for the emergence of semiosis in evolutionary scenarios. He is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Dept. of Computer Engineering and Industrial Automation (FEEC/UNICAMP). J.Q. is supported by Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP).
